Game Manual

Silence—without song—makes Whisker suspect trouble. What happened to Willow’s sweet song? Captain Reed has taken her! With a tip of his hat and a rescue song of his own, Whisker steers downriver. Let’s bring Willow home!

1 Steering the Ship (Controls)

You steel your spine and speed your step! Master these controls to brave the journey:

  • Keyboard: Use Arrows to Move and Climb, Space to Jump, hold Shift to Run, and hit Esc to Pause.
  • Gamepad: Use the D-Pad/Stick to Move, A/Cross to Jump, X/Square to Run, and Start to Pause.
  • Touch: On phones and tablets, simply use the on-screen D-Pad and the trusty A/B buttons.

2 Nasty Scoundrels

Danger lurks in the shadows, and Captain Reed moves among the trees. Watch your step!

  • Pesky Ducks & Beasts: Stomp your feet! Jump directly on the heads of ducks, bleating goats, and rheas to bounce off them safely.
  • Ghosts: Beady eyes peer through the twilight mist. Not even a ghost can stop you, but avoid their icy touches!
  • Captain Reed: He confirms your fears as he pelts you with potatoes! Dodge his spuds and bounce on his hat to knock him out of your way.

3 Tools of the Trade

You uncover secrets the old house holds, but you'll need the right gear to press on.

  • Keys: You cannot pass through locked blue doors without them. Seek them out to keep moving forward!
  • Hearts: The cold bites, and enemies hit hard. Collect hearts to restore your health so you don't lose focus.
  • Musical Notes: Whisker longs for the sound of Willow's song. Gather these hidden melodies scattered across every level.

4 Aerobatics (Plane Levels)

Up you go. The wind greets you, but doesn’t slow you down. Like a stunt pilot, you maneuver!

  • During levels like Plane Crazy and High Flight, you will pilot Whisker's trusty biplane.
  • Use the movement keys to fly Up, Down, Left, and Right across the sky.
  • Press Space (or the A Button) to fire your plane's weapon and blast crates and spuds out of the sky.

5 Customizing the Console

Whisker preferred steamboat rides downriver, but you can set the mood of your screen!

  • In the Main Menu or Pause Options, toggle between full Color Mode, retro Black & White, or nostalgic Green Mode.
  • On mobile devices, you can even change the plastic bezel casing to Gray, Red, Yellow, Green, Teal, or Purple.

6 The Ultimate Reward

Wait! You hear faint music in the distance... Not a ghostly song, but one sung sweetly and soft.

  • If you manage to collect every single musical note hidden across all 20 levels, you will achieve 100% completion.
  • Doing this unlocks Winnie Mode from the ending screen, allowing you to play the entire game from a brand new perspective—as Winnie, racing to rescue Whisker!
